In this class we will be diving into activation of the inner eye through free flow practices and the creation of a painting. Painting has been the most powerful medicine in my life for activating and expressing the magic of the psychic connection to consciousness through channeled visions coming into reality on canvas. The creation process by itself is enriching and empowering, connecting with our essence as divine creators. I will be sharing some practices and techniques that have assisted me in dropping into a flow state with artwork and I will accompany you in creating your own unique channeled painting from start to finish. Bring a sketchbook or blank paper, a pencil, a canvas (size of your choice but recommended 12X12 or bigger), acrylic paint (any colors but at least white, red, yellow and blue), and paint brushes (one small, one large or multiple sizes)

What Students Will Learn: We will explore how to set the stage for creating (no matter where you are using whatever you have), learn basic techniques for drawing (shading, shapes, patterns, and abstract nonsense), explore various ways to start tuning into your emotional state, navigate the inner critic, let your inner artist out to play, feel your feelings as you transcribe them into art, soothing aftercare tips, and practice witnessing and being seen in our authentic expression. Materials Needed: Use whatever you have to draw or paint with- pencil, pen, marker, crayons, chalk, paints, paint brushes, makeup, burnt tooth pics, dark tea and a spoon, mud, boogers, etc. Something to draw or paint on- paper, notebook, cardboard, paint board, stretched canvas, last year's taxes, old pair of jeans, napkins, the wall (owner’s permission required!) with JULIE OSBURNE
March 24th - April 28th
Tuesdays @ 7pm-8pm / GREEN ROOM 1
$10 per class / $60 for the semester

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a method not only intended to mitigate conflict, but a philosophy through which to understand human psychology, interaction, and connection. In this 6-week course, we'll explore both the how-to's of NVC and the philosophy behind it: how to see the world through the lens of self-responsibility and collaboration, and what possibilities emerge from this mindset. This framework can bring clarity to difficult interpersonal dynamics, reduce cycles of blame and defensiveness, disrupt power dynamics, support directness and authenticity, and facilitate genuine connections. This class will be playful and interactive, including lecture, practice, role plays, and invitations to bring in real-life situations to work through as a group. All experience levels welcome. Depending on the interests of participants, classes can be tailored to include mindful embodiment practice for deeper exploration of emotions and needs, effective advocating for wants and boundaries, untangling longstanding relationship patterns, and NVC's connection with adjacent philosophical traditions. About the Teacher: I am a mental health therapist and have been a student and teacher of NVC for over a decade. When I first began exploring NVC, I was struck by how profoundly it reframed my understanding of my own psychology and how I was relating to others. I have since taught NVC in prisons, in trainings for therapists and healthcare practitioners, in my clinical work, and in community workshops. I’m passionate about sharing this framework and creating spaces where people can explore it together.

Joy and Elation as Internal Processes
with OGDEN MICHAEL
March 24th - April 28th
Tuesdays @ 8pm-9pm / FOYER
$10 per class / $60 for the semester

In this mindfulness and body awareness class, students will explore the idea that emotions are internally generated processes. While external events may seem to trigger them, our emotional responses are shaped by genetics, epigenetics, personal history, and the meanings we’ve attached to past experiences. We’ll also examine how substances that alter mood work by interacting with chemical systems our bodies already produce naturally. From this perspective, it becomes possible to learn how to intentionally cultivate similar emotional and mental states from within. We will learn to do so through guided mindfulness and body awareness exercises. Students will observe these processes directly and practice cultivating feelings of joy—and even elation—intentionally. This approach has been deeply transformative in my own life. It ultimately led me to realize the importance of living from a clear set of values and creating meaning and goals aligned with those values. For that reason, I strongly encourage anyone taking this class to complete a values assessment soon after this class. Each weeks class will be largely the same. Students are welcome to attend once or for the whole six weeks to dive deeper into the practices and share their experiences with others as we will have sharing periods through out the class. What to bring: *Warm clothes as the room might be chilly. *A journal or something to write on to record your experiences at the end of the class if you feel called.
